Achieve 90% Marks at School: 5 Proven Tips from Students and Parents with Frenchetvoila Support

🌟 Achieve 90% Marks at School: 5 Proven Tips from Students and Parents with Frenchetvoila Support

At Frenchetvoila, we’ve noticed a common pattern among students consistently performing at 90% and abovethey stay consistent.

Whether it’s in sports, music, or academics, success comes from regular effort. If your child plays soccer, they must attend practice. If they play an instrument, they must rehearse. The same principle applies to tutoring: consistent sessions and self-practice lead to real growth.

Tutoring isn’t just extra help — it’s an enrichment activity that builds skills, confidence, and academic independence.

💡 1. Confidence and Motivation

Encourage your child (or yourself, if you’re an adult learner) to believe in their abilities.
Understanding why they are attending tutoring helps them stay focused. Are they trying to raise their grades? Improve their French fluency? Master math skills? Clear goals fuel motivation and build long-term confidence.

📘 2. Consistent Homework Completion

Students who complete their Frenchetvoila homework regularly show the highest progress and retention rates.
Homework reinforces what is taught in class and helps tutors identify strengths and weaknesses.

Recommended Homework Time:
  • Grades 1–3: 20–30 minutes per night
  • Grades 4–5: 40–50 minutes per night
  • Grades 6–8: 45–75 minutes per night
  • Grades 9–12: 25–30 minutes per subject

💡 Example: A Grade 10 student with both Math and English homework should spend at least 30 minutes per subject. With short breaks, it may take 75–150 minutes to complete both effectively.

🏫 3. Partner with Teachers and Tutors

Parents play a key role in student success. Here’s how you can help:

  • Maintain open communication with school teachers.
  • Monitor grades on PowerSchool weekly or bi-weekly.
  • Attend a Frenchetvoila class as an observer to understand our teaching style.
  • Schedule a quarterly meeting with your child’s tutor to discuss progress.

We’ll contact you directly to arrange these meetings at a convenient time.

📚 Boost Your Learning with Extra Tutoring!

At Frenchetvoila, we provide tutoring in both French and English for adults and children (K–12).

One hour per week may not be enough for fast progress — we recommend at least two hours per week for the best results.

Extra hours are available for:

  • Exam and quiz prep
  • French grammar & speaking practice
  • Math, Science, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, and more

Book extra sessions in advance so we can pair you or your child with the perfect tutor.

🌱 5. Practice Self-Study and Responsibility

Encourage your child to review notes daily and practice independently.
Just 15–20 minutes of self-review each day can strengthen retention and boost confidence before the next class.
This simple habit helps students become independent learners — a key to long-term academic success.

💬 Final Message from Frenchetvoila

At Frenchetvoila, we believe that success is built through consistency, motivation, and partnership between the student, parent, and tutor.
When everyone works together — attending regularly, doing homework, and communicating openly — progress becomes inevitable.

Let’s Prep Smarter—Not Harder!

📣 The Provincial Achievement Tests is on! Whether your child is preparing for French, Math, or Science, one thing is clear: Preparation is key.

At FrenchEtVoila, we believe in building lasting academic confidence through consistency—not cramming. That’s why we’ve put together 6 smart, practical tips to make exam prep more effective—and a lot less stressful.

Because when students are prepared, they don’t just pass… they shine. 🌟

Tip 1: Be Consistent with Study Time
A little every day goes a long way.
📆 Aim for 60–90 minutes per subject, 5–6 days a week
💡 Build a glossary or use flashcards for quick vocab reviews

Tip 2: Ditch the Multitasking
Focus = better results.
🔕 Say goodbye to music with lyrics, social media, and distractions
📍Find a quiet, focused space for intentional study

Tip 3: Do a Mock Test
Test before the test!
⏱ Time yourself without using notes
👥 Ask a friend or parent to quiz you—it’s surprisingly powerful

Tip 4: Ask for Help—Early
Don’t wait until the night before!
📅 Meet with your teacher, tutor, or parent at least 3 days before
📋 Bring specific questions from your mock test or review

Tip 5: Outline Potential Essay Questions
Practice thinking like the test!
📝 Write outlines for possible essay topics—closed book and timed
💭 Strengthen both content knowledge and time management

Tip 6: Join a Study Group
Two (or more) minds are better than one!
📋 Set an agenda, stick to a schedule, and quiz each other
🔄 Teaching others helps cement your own understanding

🎓✨ Congratulations to our FrenchEtVoila Students, Phillip & Jason! 🎉🎊

On May 29, 2025, “my heart was full!” From Thérèse—our founder and CEO of FrenchEtVoila—”j’étais vraiment overjoyed!” as we celebrated the high school graduation of three exceptional students, two of whom have been with us since Grade 7-13 years old! 💖👏

🎓 Two students graduated from École J.H. Picard in Edmonton on May 29, 2025, and one from Leduc Composite High School on May 15, 2025—all successfully completing their French Immersion programs and all going to University 🇫🇷📘 They’re now proudly on the path to becoming fully bilingual!

When our founder Therese started FrenchEtVoila 7 years ago, it was to support her own children and give back to the community. Hearing the heartfelt thanks from parents this week reminded us why we do what we do and reaffirmed our purpose and passion. 💪❤

Graduation ceremonies are always emotional, and this one was no exception. Seeing these young men, whom we’ve guided for years, reach this milestone is truly rewarding. 🎓
“A special thank you to our dedicated tutors—Ben, Jean, and Edmund, who have taught these students over the past few years—and to our admin team and staff. This moment wouldn’t have been possible without you.” 🙏-Therese

To the parents of Jason and Louis-Phillip, thank you for your trust over the years. 🤝

Jason, Louis-Phillip, and Luther—congratulations! 🧑‍🎓🎉 We’re incredibly proud of you and excited for the next chapter in your journey.

Monthly Tips from Therese: 5 Real Tips I Use to Motivate My Kids in School

“My child just isn’t motivated… what can I do?”

If you’ve ever asked yourself that question, you’re not alone—and you’re definitely not a bad parent for wondering. In fact, as both a parent and an educator, I’ve heard this question so many times that I decided to turn it into a conversation—with my own kids!

I asked them, “What advice have I given you over the years that actually helped you stay motivated in school?”

They gave me five honest answers—and I think they’ll resonate with your family too.

These aren’t just tips from a textbook; these are tried-and-true pieces of advice that helped my own children stay focused, confident, and inspired. I’m excited to share them with you, all in one place 💛

🔹 Tip #1: Know Your Future Goals & Career
“Why am I even studying this?”
Sound familiar? If your child doesn’t see how school fits into their future, motivation can take a nosedive. But once they connect what they’re learning to their dreams, everything starts to click.

Try this:

  • Ask them, “If you could have any job, what would it be?”
  • Find role models in that field and explore their education path.
  • Create a vision board near their study area—it’s a daily dose of purpose!

🔹 Tip #2: Seek Guidance
“I just don’t get this. I’m not good at it.”
Kids often feel stuck and assume it means they’re not smart enough. But just like athletes need coaches, students need support too.

Try this:

  • Be their study buddy—say, “Let’s figure this out together.”
  • Encourage study groups with friends who are passionate learners.
  • Get a tutor who can make tough subjects feel manageable and even fun!

🔹 Tip #3: Put in the Extra Work
“I did my homework, isn’t that enough?”
Homework is great, but true growth comes from what kids choose to do outside of assignments. It’s about practicing like a pro, not just showing up for game day.

Try this:

  • Block out weekly review sessions—even without homework.
  • Use the “teach back” method: if they can teach it, they’ve mastered it.
  • Add mini challenges, like solving extra math problems or reading one chapter more.

🔹 Tip #4: Provide Positive Reinforcement
“They just don’t try hard enough!”
Sometimes, what looks like laziness is really a lack of encouragement.
Kids thrive when we celebrate their effort—not just their results. When we shift the focus from perfect scores to personal growth, we build confidence that lasts.

Try this:

  • Praise their persistence (“I love how you kept going!”)
  • Celebrate even the small wins with notes, treats, or shoutouts.
  • Keep a growth mindset—mistakes are how we grow, not how we fail.

🔹 Tip #5: Commit to Hard Work
“I’ll never be good at this. It’s too hard.”
One of the biggest mindset shifts for kids? Realizing that success isn’t about being “naturally smart”—it’s about being willing to work.

Try this:

  • Remind them that it’s okay to struggle. It’s part of learning.
  • Share stories of people who worked hard to succeed—athletes, artists, entrepreneurs.
  • Encourage consistent effort and celebrate grit, not just achievement.

💬 Final Thoughts from Therese
These five tips aren’t just ideas—they’re part of my daily life as a mom and an educator. They’ve helped my own kids stay motivated, and I’ve seen them work for my students too.

At Frenchetvoila, we build more than just academic skills—we build confidence, resilience, and a love for learning. Whether it’s Math, Science, French, or English, I’m here to help your child thrive with personalized strategies that make learning feel exciting again.
