My First Step in French – Part 2: A Powerful Tool to Build Language Skills!

Do you have a child aged 6 to 9 years old taking French classes? Consider laying a strong foundation in French language skills with the book My First Step in French. This book is designed to:

  • Develop phonological awareness
  • Initiate reading through images, and knowledge of letters, syllables, and short sentences
  • Develop motor skills through the writing of letters, syllables, and short sentences
  • Enrich vocabulary

With the help of daily practice, adults should also support reading and writing activities at home. This book is the perfect tool to spark the interest of children aged 6 to 9 in the French language.

This collection was written by Thérèse Djob, CEO of the educational support company Frenchetvoila. She is a devoted mother of four and a certified French-speaking teacher who taught for over ten years in French-speaking and French immersion schools. Thérèse holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a concentration in computer science from the Université du Québec à Montréal (Quebec, Montreal) and a bachelor’s degree in education from Cape Breton University (Sydney, Nova Scotia).

Thérèse observed that some struggling students faced deeper challenges that couldn’t be fully addressed in the classroom. However, she found that students who received personalized tutoring showed remarkable improvements in their academic results, which led to the creation of Frenchetvoila.

Frenchetvoila personally engages learners, empowering K-12 students and adults in French, math, physics, chemistry, social studies, and science. This guide, inspired by Thérèse’s approach with her own children, is designed to help you support your child at home. Thérèse’s children encouraged her to share this tool with other children in the community.
